Report: Black Business Needs in Mobile County
Black business owners are less likely to be approved for small business loans, and when they are approved, they receive lower amounts at higher interest rates. These individuals are unusually constrained by undercapitalization and lack access to traditional advisors and investor networks. This perpetuates the barriers for Black business owners to sustain their business, and it showcases the systemic racial discrimination that denies Black people and people of color access to wealth compared to white people.
This report examines Black business owners' access to capital and access to advisors and networks with the means, expertise, and understanding to support their goals. Our report examines the owners' relationships, interests, and needs. Our goal is to understand the financial needs and the person's overall needs. As a value, the writers and evaluators are committed to taking a person-centered, holistic approach to the management of this report.
